Understanding Per Diem & PRN Healthcare
What is per diem & PRN nursing?
Per diem or PRN (pro re nata) roles are typically created to fill short-term staffing gaps or provide additional coverage during busy periods.
As a per diem healthcare professional, you can opt to take same-day shifts, block booking opportunities a few weeks out, or take on longer contracts that include temp-to-perm and direct hire.
You can also work shifts at multiple facilities if you're looking for some more hours or variety in your work week.
Am I eligible?
Per diem nursing, allied health and non-clinical jobs are available at a variety of locations, including doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals, long-term care or rehab centers and other facilities. And because of the last-minute nature of per diem roles, medical professionals are well-compensated for their ability to accept immediate work.
Hospitals and healthcare facilities need per diem nurses to fill in during staffing shortages, maternity leave and census fluctuations. That's where you come in! Here's what to expect while working per diem:
- Various shift and facility options
- Competitive pay
- Work where you want, when you want
- Flexibility
