Spring Storm Awareness

There are special concerns for our private duty clients during storm season. As a home health provider you should take a few moments in a new environment to consider the following. How you would keep you and your client safe. Where would you go? What would you do? Who would you call? What supplies would you need?

Prepare: Get needed supplies. (Batteries, flashlights, radio, water, disaster kit if provided)

During: Go to the designated safe area in a facility. If in a home, go to the basement, storm cellar, or an interior room on the lowest floor that has no windows and is easily accessible to the client. Listen to the radio or TV to determine if it is safe to leave this safe area.

After: Assess to see if the structure is safe. If not, get out immediately and go to a safe area. Continue to listen to local news or radio for updated information or instructions. Always call CareStaf and update us on the current condition of the clients or any situation that may occur.

When I didn't know where to turn, I found CareStaf. They sent someone to take care of my husband on short notice. He could not be left alone because he had just had surgery and was a fall risk. The treatment and care we received was excellent. They treated me very well and helped ease my mind. I will definitely call CareStaf again!
